bargain-buys-for-autumn-2011-house-and-home-sept

Autumn is upon us, the nights are getting shorter and we're going to spend more time indoors. The house could do with a complete overhaul, but without the help of some TV makeover show, that's not likely.

However, there are ways you can spruce up your interiors, without spending too much money. We've come up with a Top Ten buys for Autumn, and will show you just how they can give you maximum makeover impact with minimal cost! Look at each room in your home, decide where the key areas that need a bit o f a revamp are, and fix the ones that are most important to you first. If you spend a lot of time in the living room, start there, and leave the less used rooms alone. It's easy to add just a few new items to your home, to make it look like you've had a complete revamp!

Jefferson Armchair from Marks and Spencer, £299.

Pappelina Swedish Plastic Rugs, £310, www.cloudberryliving.co.uk

You need a new carpet, but the cost is too high. That's where these rugs come in. They are soft and comfortable to use, but are extremely hardwearing and ideal for a hallway where a lot of foot traffic can wreck carpets quickly, or a kitchen where you spend a lot of time standing.

Evie Bedframe, £120, Tesco Direct

Everyone knows that the mattress is the most important part of the bed. You don't need to spend a fortune on a bed frame if your mattress is a good one. Ditsy Floral and Polka Dot crockery, from £3, Matalan

Shabby Chic is never going away. We all love the country kitchen look, but it needn't cost a fortune.
